Jonelle’s work sits at the intersection of journalism, advocacy, and impact.

She began her journey campaigning as a member of the UK Youth Parliament, experiences that shaped her belief in the power of communication to create change.

Since then, her advocacy has taken her from local community work to global platforms.

She’s helped raise over £100,000 for youth services across the UK, and has spoken at the Houses of Parliament, St James’s Palace, and the United Nations Headquarters in New York championing youth voices and accountability in decision-making spaces.

That same mission to empower and inform is what led her to journalism.

Jonelle is the BBC’s first London-based social news presenter, leading reports, livestreams, and interviews for BBC News across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.

She creates engaging, thought-provoking news stories that reach tens of millions worldwide, breaking down complex issues for diverse audiences.

As co-founder and co-host of Reliable Sauce, the BBC’s weekly news podcast for younger listeners in the UK, she’s helped bridge the gap between breaking news and real conversation.

Her investigations have strengthened online safety and government accountability, including one that prompted the UK government’s renewed £500 million investment in youth.

Every project Jonelle leads, whether on-screen, on stage, or online, is guided by the same purpose that began her career:

to use storytelling as a force for connection, accountability, and change.
